Lautner, who already bears a strong resemblance to the CGI version of Max, was very taken with the character, who gets his powers from – well, it’s complicated (something about being infected with microscopic “nano-machines” and drinking “T-juice.”)
Although Lautner is “committed to the role,” a source tells PEOPLE, the movie still has no director and no timeline, but as a high-priority project, look for it to be getting underway quickly.

Here is a decent post in Men’s Health with Taylor Launters Workout plan. It covers several tips without going into detail about his workout. It is good, but surprised it isn’t more detailed.

Taylor Lautner ? Finally a Fitness Role Model for “Generation Y”
If I ever met Taylor Lautner in person I would shake his hand (then get his autograph for my girlfriend’s daughter). I really believe that he will single-handedly make being in shape cool for Generation Y (the kids of Generation X).

Think about that: Taylor Lautner used to be a 5’10″, 140-pound, bony teenager, and now he’s a rippled fitness animal. If he can overcome physical shortcomings, anyone can. “Inexperience works to your advantage,” says Jordan Yuam, Lautner’s trainer and the owner of Jordan’s Virtual Fit Club. “The less muscle you have, the easier it is to gain muscle mass more quickly.”
“Maximize your genetic potential,” says Yuam. “There’s no reason you can’t gain pounds of muscle in a year.”

Generation Y has been one of the first generations to show almost zero interest in fitness. Taylor Launter will single-handedly change that. He may be the first true fitness role model for “Generation Y”. Just like Arnold in Terminator or Brad Pitt in Fight Club, Taylor Lautner is about to inspire an entire generation.

I Predict Taylor Lautner Will Create A HUGE Impact in Fitness

If I ever met Taylor Lautner in person I would shake his hand (then get his autograph for my girlfriend’s daughter). I really believe that he will single-handedly make being in shape cool for Generation Y (the kids of Generation X). I believe that this impact will be felt almost immediately and it will be long lasting. My guess is that we will see more and more young people hitting the gyms and getting into fitness. I don’t believe that this will just be young men. I think it will have just as big of an impact for young women.

Thanks Again to Taylor Lautner…

…for getting in incredible shape for his role as Jacob Black in New Moon. He is a great young actor and has what it takes to revive the fitness industry…and possibly inspire an entire generation of young men and women to take an interest in fitness.

Before I begin to tell you about the Taylor Lautner Workout, I will give you a brief biography of Taylor.

He was born in 1992, on February the 12th. He was 17 at the time Twilight New Moon was filmed. He studied martial arts from the age of 6 to the age of 13. At the age of 12 he won the Junior World Championships as a black belt in karate. In 2001, Lautner started acting. In 2008, he was in Twilight as Jacob Black, a Native American.

The Director Considered Casting Someone Else to Play Jacob Black in New Moon

Director Catherine Hardwicke even thought about finding someone else to fill in for Lautner’s role. She thought that Jacob Black should be played by someone that had more muscle and was a little more believable. You see, Jacob turns into a werewolf in this movie and she wanted someone with a stronger physical presence than Taylor Lautner.

Taylor had to put on a lot of muscle to keep from losing his role in the new movie.

Fortunately, Taylor’s background in martial arts was helpful when he needed to improve his physical conditioning. If we were talking about a normal 17 year old boy that didn’t haven’t Taylor’s martial arts background, there isn’t any way he could have put on the amount of muscle he did in that small amount of time.

The Secret to Jacob Black’s Six Pack Abs

Taylor Lautner’s abs were not just a result of the 9 months of training leading up to the shooting of New Moon. Because of his years of training in martial arts, his muscles were more dense and mature than most would have at his age. People who compete in martial arts derive power from tightening their core. The ab muscles become more defined and harden over time as they are tightened. To make your abs more apparent, one needs to lower the percentage of their body fat through dieting, though Lautner’s abs can be credited to his experience in the martial arts.

The Gaining Muscle Part for Taylor Was Easy

Taylor quickly put on 20 pounds of mass due to his age. The thing that fitness magazines never tell you is that you are easily able to gain mass when you first workout. The muscle that Taylor has added to his body is the just the right amount of muscle that his body should have. He isn’t big by any stretch of the imagination, which is good. Just like most younger males, Lautner could move towards his body’s maximum efficiency very quickly. He did it in 9 months, since he had so much time he could devote to this. Most men would have to have a year to two years to do this.

When Interviewed About How He Got in Shape for New Moon

Lautner doesn’t give away many details regarding his workout during interviews. He says things like “I worked out a lot and ate a lot”. Honestly, this is all it takes for a young guy in his late teens to early 20′s to gain those 15-25 pounds. The trick is to then get lean and ripped. It is a good thing that because he is still young, he has a high metabolism. When he gets a little older, he might have to come up with a new plan.
